Richard E. "Gene" White, age 73, of Murphysboro died
Friday, October 9, 2009 in Snellville, GA. Gene was born in Murphysboro
December 14, 1935 a son to the late Virgil P. and Violet (Reams) White. He
married Ann Buchholz on May 5, 1956 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church near
Ava, IL., Ann survives of Murphysboro. Gene was a long time member and
Deacon at the First Christian Church in Murphysboro; he was a US Army
veteran and was a retired pressman from Lustor and Curwood Corporations in
Murphysboro. Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, October 17, 2009
at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. David Hunt of First
Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Murdale Gardens of
Memory, with military rites by American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 and
V.F.W. Post 7190 both of Murphysboro, V.F.W. Post 2605 in Carbondale and
the Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Visitation will
be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Crawshaw Funeral Home.
Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the First Christian Church or
to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife; Ann White of
Murphysboro, one daughter; Tracie White of Lawrenceville, GA., one son and
daughter-in-law; Keith and Sherri White of Carterville, IL., twin
granddaughters; Jennifer and Jessica White of Carterville, one grandson;
Jackson Phillips of Lawrenceville, GA., two brothers and sisters-in-law;
Bob and Mary Lou White and Lawrence and Linda White all of Sand Ridge,
IL., two sisters and one brother-in-law; Nancy White of Sand Ridge and
Joyce and Cliff Darnsteadt of St. Johns, IN., he is also survived by
several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in
death by one sister Phyllis White. |
