John Thomas Warren, 36 of Murphysboro, died at 11:14pm on Saturday, April 2, 2011 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. John was born April 13, 1974 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son to Thomas F. and Jean C. (Grear) Warren; they survive of Frankfort, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Gina DeRosa on May 25, 1996 in Frankfort, IN. Gina survives of Murphysboro. John was a member of the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro and was Professor in the Speech and Communications department at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. John was a 1992 graduate of Frankfort Senior High School in Frankfort, IN.; he completed his under-graduate studies at Indiana State University in 1996 and earned his PhD. in Speech and Communication at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2001. He was a member of the National Communication Association, the Central States Communication Association, the Western States Communication Association and the American Education Studies Association. Memorial services will be at 2 pm on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church 214 West Main in Carbondale, Rev. Larry Gilbert and Rev. Earl Renshaw of the United Methodist Church of Murphysboro will officiate. Family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon until the hour of services at the church on Friday. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the John T. or Gina D. Warren Survivor Account c/o of First Southern Bank 109 East Walnut St. Murphysboro, IL. Memorials will be accepted at the church on Friday and envelopes will be available. Survivors in addition to his wife Gina and his parents include two sons; Elias John Warren and Isaac James Warren both at home, two brothers and sisters-in-law; Steve and Carrie Warren of Avon, IN., and Jeff and Christie Warren of Chicago, IL., two nieces; Audrey Warren and Jenna Warren, four nephews; Zach Warren, Ethan Warren, Alex Warren, and Ryan Warren, he is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law; George and Liz DeRosa of Frankfort, IN., one brother-in-law; George DeRosa III and wife Nicole, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
