William R. "Bob" Ward, 68 of Murphysboro died at 7:58 am on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Bob was born in Gary, Indiana on October 7, 1939 a son to the late William Earl and Mildred (Walwark) Ward. He married Susanne Russell December 1, 1961 in Murphysboro, Susanne survives of Murphysboro. Bob was a Charter Member, Deacon and Chairman of the Mission Committee of the Berean Christian Church in Murphysboro. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and was a retired Insurance Adjuster, Bob was also instrumental in organizing and starting the M.B I. baseball fields at Harrison, he also coached for MBI 20 years.
Services will be at 1pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Rev. Dan Hargrave will officiate, burial will follow at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the hour of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Berean Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife; Susanne Ward of Murphysboro, one daughter; Carol Ward of Mississippi, three sons and two daughters-in-law; Steve and Jennifer Ward of Herrin, Russell and Shelly Ward of DeSoto, IL., and Jeff Ward of Murphysboro, eleven grandchildren; Toni, Justin, Matthew, Keith, Trenton, Camdin, Scott, Emily, Mitchell, and Zane Ward and Matt Throop, one great grandchild; Kailey Gee, one sister-in-law; Shirley Krienert, one niece; Jessica Krienert and one nephew; Joseph Krienert.
