Luella S. Voss, 92 of Murphysboro, died at 4:58 am Thursday, August 28, 2008 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Luella was born in Baldwin, IL. April 1, 1916 a daughter to the late Henry and Freda (Buch) Spier. She married Roland H. Voss in Baldwin, IL., September 3, 1939, Roland survives of Murphysboro. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, she was a member and 2 term President of the Lutheran Ladies Aid, she was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, a 2 term President and member of the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 ladies auxiliary, and member of the Adult Bible class at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and was a homemaker.
Services will be at 1 pm Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Theodore Mayes of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband; Roland H. Voss of Murphysboro, one daughter; Arlou Hartman of Murphysboro, one son and daughter-in-law; John R. and Carol Voss of Murphysboro, 8 grandchildren; Kimberly (Bryan) Cramer, Matthew (Linda) Whittenberg, Paula (Scott) Maloney, Keith Voss, Pam (Jay) Martin, Julie Sellers, Dana (Anthony) Batson, and Neil (Angie) Voss, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister Esther Spier Wirth.
