Frances “Cheeca” Vancil, 91 of Carbondale and formerly
of Murphysboro died at 7am on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Shawnee
Christian Nursing Center in Herrin, IL. Frances was born on February 9,
1920 in Marion, IL., a daughter to the late Frank and Rosa (Letca)
Cavaliere.
She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the American Legion Paul
Stout Post #127 Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary all in Murphysboro. She retired after 38 years of service
from the former Brown Shoe Co. in Murphysboro.
Graveside services will be at 1pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in St.
Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Murphysboro, Father Gary Gummersheimer of
St. Andrew Catholic Church will officiate. There will be no visitation
and those planning to attend are asked to gather at cemetery. Memorials
may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church or to St. Andrew’s School and
will be accepted the day of the service or at Crawshaw Funeral Home in
Murphysboro.
Survivors include; one nephew, several great-nieces and one
great-nephew.
Frances was preceded by her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
