Grace Moen Thrailkill, 96, passed away at 6:10
am on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson
County in Murphysboro. Grace was born in McVille, North Dakota on February
19, 1913 a daughter to the late Ole and Julia (Johnson) Moen. She married
Paul E. Thrailkill on March 1, 1936; Paul preceded her in death on
December 24, 1972. Grace is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Margo
Lyn and Richard Strothmann of Gravois Mills, MO, two sons and two
daughters-in-law; Gene and Mary Jane Thrailkill of Nashville, IL., and Ed
and Patty Thrailkill of Murphysboro, grandchildren; Jeff and Jana
Strothmann of St. Peters, MO., Tracy and Dan Garrett of Gravois Mills,
MO., Vanessa and Bill Hebrank of McKinney, TX., Stephanie and Mark
McCleary of Nashville, IL., Scott Thrailkill of Myrtle Beach, SC., Megan
and Matt Trower of Eureka, MO., great grandchildren; Nick Strothmann,
Jackie and Kyle Strothmann, April Hebrank, Brittany Hebrank, Bryson
McCleary, Dane McCleary, Adyson Trower and Gavin Trower and one
great-great grandson; Brayden Hebrank. Grace was a graduate of Southern
Illinois State Teachers College in Carbondale, IL. She taught in the
Murphysboro school system for most of her career. An avid gardener, she
also loved to read, she was an exceptional artist, and crocheted hundreds
of slippers and other gifts for her family. She was a member of Epiphany
Lutheran Church of All Saints in Carbondale. In addition to her parents
and husband she was preceded in death by one brother; Orville Moen. No
visitation is planned, a private graveside service will be held. If you
