Arlene Anna Marie Thies, 93 of Murphysboro
died at 12:06am on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Marion, IL. Arlene was
born on August 21, 1917 in Jacob, IL. a daughter to the late Fred and
Susie Anna (Lungwitz) Miesner. She was united in marriage to Arnold Heins
on June 24, 1939 Arnold preceded her in death on July 19, 1978, she later
married Raymond Thies on October 26, 1985, Raymond also preceded her in
death. Arlene was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob and was a
member of the Dorcas Society and also was a member of the Christ Lutheran
Church choir. In addition to being a homemaker she was also a retired
seamstress having worked at the former Cal Crest Jacket Factory in
Murphysboro for many years. Funeral services will be at 10am on Monday,
February 28, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob, Rev. Mike Kettner
will officiate. Burial will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation
will be from 5 to 8pm on Sunday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro
and from 9 until 10am on Monday at the church. Memorials are encouraged
and may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church or School and will be
accepted at the funeral home, church or school. Survivors include one son
and daughter-in-law; Ronald and Diana Heins of Waterloo, IL. two daughters
and one son-in-law; Brenda Hellmer and Barbara and Robert Sumner all of
Murphysboro, seven grandchildren; Scott Hellmer, Tricia Hellmer, Valerie
Mihailovic, Carrie Beach, Traci Grant, Christopher Sumner, and Eric Heins,
and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and both husband
she was also preceded in by one brother; Willard Miesner, and one
son-in-law; Bill Hellmer.
