Cynthia Elvinia "Vinie" Taylor, 94 of Sand
Ridge, died at 11:55 am Saturday, January 23, 2010 in Sand Ridge. Vinie
was born July 18, 1915 in Sand Ridge Township, Jackson County, Illinois, a
daughter to the late Benjamin and Elsie (Smith) Ticer. She was married to
Charles W. Taylor on August 3, 1933 in Murphysboro; Charles preceded her
in death on December 31, 1995. Vinie was a member of the Sand Ridge
Baptist Church; she was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress at the
former Cal-Crest Outerwear in Murphysboro and had also worked as a cook at
St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. A funeral service of
celebration will be at 1 pm Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Crawshaw Funeral
Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Paul Hicks of Murdale Baptist Church will
officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near
Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday at the funeral
home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Illinois Masonic
Children's Home in Murphysboro and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Survivors include; four daughters and sons-in-law; Phyllis (Sheilds) and
Ken Verseman of Gorham, IL., Margaret and Charles Valier of Mt. Vernon,
IN., Laura and Gary Hollmann of Jacob, IL., and Marilyn and Harold
Fritsche of Prescott, AZ., three sons and three daughters-in-law; Charles
Jr. and Patricia Taylor of Highland, IL., Ted W. and Mary Taylor of
Belleville, IL., and Thomas and Lynn Taylor of Marion, IL. 23 grand
children, 58 great grand children and 3 great great grand children. In
addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one
grandson; Michael Fritsche, one infant granddaughter; Mary Sue Taylor, one
son-in-law; Richard Shields, one sister, two brothers, one step-sister,
and one step-brother. |
