Thelma Ann Herring, 82 of rural Murphysboro died at 8:25pm Monday, May 31, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Thelma was born in Somerset Township June 5, 1927 a daughter to the late Arthur and Sarah (Pate) Wisely. Thelma was united in marriage to William F. "Bill" Herring on December 22, 1956 in Murphysboro; Bill preceded her in death on May 1, 2009. She was a member of the Pate Chapel Baptist Church near Murphysboro and was a homemaker and had worked at the former Cal-Crest Outerwear in Murphysboro. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Pastor John Pitchford of Pate Chapel Baptist Church will officiate, burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Crawshaw Funeral Home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Pate Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law; Ray and Teresa Herring of Murphysboro one daughter and two sons-in-law; Beverly and Rob Rendleman of Vergennes, and Scott Fluegel of Murphysboro, five grandchildren; Jessica and Stephen Herring, Jenna and Lucas Rendleman, and Sara Fluegel. In addition to her husband Bill she was preceded in death by a daughter Janice R. Fluegel on July 1, 2006, one brother; Carl Wisely and one infant sister; Dorothy Wisely.
