Mr. Swetland was born in Murphysboro, Illinois on March 3, 1941 to the late Lucious "Bud" and Evelyn Fielding Swetland. He has lived in Princeton, Kentucky for the past several years. He was a veteran and service in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Cindy Swetland, Timothy and Jenny Swetland and Robert Earl Swetland, all of Princeton, Kentucky; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bob Allison of Pamona, Illinois; six grandchildren, Timmy Jr., Josh, Kyla, Brady, Jerald and Audrey and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Private family services will be conducted at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Interment will be in Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro.
