Rose Cathrine Stevens, 87, of Murphysboro,
passed away at 1:30am on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Murphysboro. Rose
was born in Murphysboro, IL., on April 17, 1923 a daughter to the late
William W. and Edith M. (Pieron) Kelly. She was united in marriage to
Lloyd K. "Tony" Stevens in Murphysboro on June 30, 1945; Tony preceded her
in death on December 6, 1986. Rose was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Murphysboro and was a homemaker she had worked at the Jackson
County Livestock Auction for several years, she was a member of the
"Sewing Club" for 60 years and was a member of the Beta Sigma Chi sorority
for a number of years, and was an avid golfer. Funeral services will be
Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Crawshaw Funeral Home in
Murphysboro with Rev. Shaker Samuel of the First Baptist Church
officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near
Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday,
December 2, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be
made to First Baptist Church of Murphysboro or Hospice of Southern
Illinois. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law; Bill Stevens
of Orlando, FL., and Kelly and Mona Stevens of Murphysboro, four
grandchildren; Bryan (Beth) Stevens, Lisa (Corey) Lamb, Aaron Stevens and
Josh Stevens, one great grandchild; Austen Lamb, and one brother and
sister-in-law; Bill and Charlene Kelly of Jackson, MS., several nieces and
nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband she was also
preceded in death by one brother; Pat Kelly and one daughter-in-law;
Nellie Marie Stevens.
