Clyde Shirley Simmons, 82 of Jacob, Illinois
died suddenly Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Murphysboro. Clyde was born February
24, 1927 in Colp, IL. to the late Charles Newton and Zella Mae (Bearden)
Simmons. According to his wishes cremation services were accorded.
Survivors include his wife; Gladys (Jodi) nee Lynn Simmons also of Jacob,
brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws; Delbert (Jean) Lynn of Murphysboro
and Betty (Don) Miller of Bridgeview. He is also survived by several
nieces and nephews including Bobby Lynn of Percy, Delbert Lynn Jr. of
Missouri, Julie Lynn of Percy, Debbie Lynn of Red Bud, Ashley Lynn of
Sparta, Sherry Lynn of Chicago, Sue and Paul Seiler of Cambria, Bill
Martin of Valier, Judith Khan of Cambria, Mary Rogers of Herrin, Dorothy
(Carl) Williams of Valier, Ray Simmons and Robert (Deanna) Seiler of
Joliet. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 sisters; Betty Pedigo
Tippy, Ida Beauton Jelly, Eileen Garlo, Imogene Cato and Evelyn, Mary
Christine and Eunice Simmons; 4 brothers; Calvin (Chuck), Don, Ralph, and
Charles Simmons. Clyde was a member of the operating engineers union and
worked at A&D Drilling until his retirement in 1952. Clyde lived a full
and eventful life on his terms. Clyde loved to fish, garden and play
cards. A private memorial service will be held at the end of May at
Wagner's Landing, a favorite fishing place for Clyde. Arrangements were
under the direction of Crawshaw Funeral Home, Murphysboro. |
