Victor Silveria, 83 of rural DeSoto died Monday,
September 5, 2011. Victor was born in Cambria, IL., on March 28, 1928 a
son to the late Dallas and Verna (Pulley) Silveria. He was united in
marriage to Margaret May “Pegge” (Miller) Galloway in Ottawa, IL., on
May 17, 1968. He welcomed and loved Pegge’s three children as his own;
she preceded him in death on January 20, 2002. Victor was a veteran and
served in the United States Marine Corps in the south Pacific during
WWII. He was an independent telephone contractor and had worked for
G.T.E. and several other telephone contracting companies. He was a
member of the I.B.E.W. and the Jackson County Farm Bureau.
Services will be at 12 noon on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Crawshaw
Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Father Robert Flannery of St. Francis
Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale will officiate; burial will be at
McKinney Hill Cemetery near Carbondale. Visitation will be on Saturday
from 10am until the hour of services at Crawshaw funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law; Lori Galloway of
McHenry, IL., and Linda and Ronald Henkel of Mendota, IL., five
grandchildren; Adam Henkel, Brian (Michelle) Henkel, Eric (Alison)
Henkel, Drake Walker and Katie Walker, three great grandchildren; Chloe,
Luke and Lauren Henkel. In addition to his parents and wife he was
preceded in death by one son Martin Galloway on October 8, 2001 and one
brother Clifford Souther.
