Wilma A. Shields, 78 of Murphysboro, died at 8:13 am Thursday, February 7, 2008 in Murphysboro. Wilma was born August 20, 1929 in Sand Ridge, IL. a daughter to the late James A. and Mary (Reed) Porter. She married Charles Michael Shields June 19, 1948 in Raddle, IL. Charles preceded her in death August 5, 1996. Wilma was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro; she was a homemaker and a former member of Jackson County Home Extension (Triad Unit). Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro with Pastor John Daniel Neace officiating; burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 11am to 1 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro and will be accepted at the funeral home or church. Survivors include two daughters and son in laws; Alusha and John Ferguson and Rosemary and C.J. Calandro all of Murphysboro, four grandsons and two granddaughters in law; Johnny and Jamie Ferguson of Caruthersville, MO., Tracey and Heather Ferguson of Murphysboro and A.J. and Nick Calandro also of Murphysboro, three great grandsons; Jake Ferguson, Collin Tibbs, and Colten Ferguson, one sister; Margaret Porter of Murphysboro, and one brother and sister in law; Mike and Darlene Porter of Murphysboro. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister; Jewel Lee, one brother; James Porter, and one infant brother also.
