Fred L. Schnuatz, 83 of Murphysboro, died at 5:56 am Thursday, November 13, 2008 in Carbondale. Fred was born in Gorham, IL. February 2, 1925 a son to the late Fred G. and Augusta Marie (Hale) Schnautz Gardner. He married Ramona Jean Phifer March 14, 1947 in Murphysboro, Ramona survives of Murphysboro. Fred was a retired Iron Worker and was a member of Iron Workers Local 782, he was U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and was a member of the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 of Murphysboro.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and can be made to the Murphysboro High School or Middle School Wrestling programs and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Survivors include; his wife Ramona of Murphysboro, four daughters and son-in-laws; Mona and Kelly Stevens of Murphysboro, Jean and Ken Hooper of Mission Viejo, CA., Lisa and Joe Melvin of Murphysboro and Laurie and John Biehl of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA., three sons and daughter-in-laws; Fred and Cathy Schnautz of Murphysboro, Mike and Michelle Schnautz of Orange, CA., and Dan and Michelle Schnautz of Westminster, CA., grandchildren include; Aaron and Josh Stevens, Jason and Ashley Hooper, Joe and Bailey Melvin, Amanda (Billy) Woosley, Autumn Moniger, Justin (Ashley) Moniger, Jean Luc and Dalton Beers, Jacob and Matthew Schnautz, and Emily and Jack Biehl, three great grandchildren; Van Woosley, Brant Moniger, and Kailyn Moniger, also former daughter-in-law; Leanna Schnautz, and former son-in-law; Charlie Hooper. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his step-father Robert Gardner.
