Glenn L. "Chuck" Schemonia Jr., 60 of Murphysboro died at 3:18am on Monday February 28, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Chuck was born November 22, 1950 in Murphysboro a son to Glenn L. Schemonia Sr. and Cora Olive (Baseden) Schemonia they survive of Pomona, IL. He was united in marriage to Alice M. Hill in Murphysboro on November 19, 1983, Alice survives of Murphysboro. Chuck was a U.S. Army veteran from Vietnam; and was a member of Paul Stout Post 127 American Legion in Murphysboro. Chuck owned and operated Chuck & Al's Mobile Repair for 11 years; he worked with his dad at Glenn's Auto Repair in Murphysboro and had also worked at Cox Trucking in Murphysboro. He was retired from the Southern Illinois University Travel Service as a mechanic. Funeral services will be at 11am on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Troy Humphrey of the Berean Christian Church will officiate, burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro with military rites by the American Legion Post 127, and V.F.W. Post 7190 both of Murphysboro V.F.W. Post 2605 Carbondale and the Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Crawshaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Berean Christian Church in Murphysboro, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife; Alice Schemonia of Murphysboro, his parents; Glenn Sr. and Cora Schemonia of Pomona, one daughter and son-in-law; Laurie and Bob Neef of Murphysboro, one step-son; Jason Smith of Murphysboro, one grandson; Hunter Neef, and one granddaughter; Savannah Neef both of Murphysboro, four sisters and three brothers-in-law; Jane Pinkston of Murphysboro, Nancy and Jim King of Pomona, Brenda and Bob Marfio of Murphysboro, and Doris and Drew Stetson of Minnesota, five brothers and sisters-in-law; Larry and Tammy Schemonia of Alto Pass, IL., Kenny and Lori Schemonia of West Frankfort, IL., John and Bev Schemonia of Pomona, Frank and Pam Schemonia of Murphysboro, and Andy and Sherry Schemonia of Murphysboro, his mother-in-law; Nancy Hill of Murphysboro, two sisters-in-law and their husbands; Betty and Joe Hanna of Hurst, IL., and Karen and Jim Heininger of Murphysboro, one brother-in-law and his wife; Elmer and Sue Ann Hill of Arizona, he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by one brother; Jimmy Dean Schemonia, one brother-in-law; Charles "Butch" Pinkston, his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. Chuck was the best dad, husband, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend that one could know. His strength was the core of everything that he was involved in. May his laughter and love stay in our hearts forever. His pallbearers will be his brothers; Larry, Frank, Kenny, Andy and John Schemonia and his brother-in-law Bob Marfio.
