Dr. Harold Gidcumb Robertson, 76 of Murray,
KY, formerly of Eldorado, IL., was called home to be with his Lord on
October 15, 2011, at Murray Calloway County Hospital, Murray, Kentucky,
after a lengthy illness. Dr. Robertson was born on December 9, 1934 in
Eldorado, IL.
Dr. Robertson was a graduate of Eldorado High School, Eldorado,
Illinois, class of 1952. He was a graduate of the University of
Illinois, classes of 1958, 1959 and 1962. He taught at the University
of Kentucky from 1962 to 1966, and at Murray State University, Murray,
Kentucky, from 1966 until his retirement in 1997.
Dr. Robertson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma Lee (Norman)
Robertson of Murray, Kentucky, and daughter Marsha Lynn Robertson of
Ventura, California. Also surviving are his two brothers, James Scott
Tiernan of Flossmoor, Illinois, and Thomas Patrick Tiernan of Chicago,
Illinois: his Aunt Ethel Gene Behrens, cousins Stephen Behrens and wife
Cathy; Ann Brakhane and husband Leroy of Bunker Hill, Illinois; Jane
Kuchefski and husband Bob of Boston, Massachusetts.
He was predeceased in death by his father, Harold Robertson; his
mother, Rose Marion Gidcumb (Robertson) Tiernan; his step-father James
Scott Tiernan, Sr.; his grandparents, Ethel and Vern Gidcumb; and Alma
and Ira Robertson.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, October 19th, at
Mt. Joy Cemetery near Murphysboro, Illinois, with Rev. Earl Renshaw
officiating.
Memorials are encouraged and the family requests donations be made to
the American Heart Association.
