Tom Riggs,
60 of Murphysboro, died at 6:30 pm Monday, April 23, 2007 in Murphysboro. Tom was born in Murphysboro May 27, 1946 a son to the late Charles Thomas and Nellie Elizabeth (Lively) Riggs. He married Arlene M. Sarensen in Murphysboro November 7, 1970, Arlene Survives of Murphysboro. Tom was a Lutheran by faith; he was a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 7190 in Murphysboro and Murphysboro Lodge 498 A.F. & A.M. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, April 27, 2007 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Rev. Theodore Mayes of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro will officiate, burial with military rites by American Legion post 127, V.F.W. Post 7190 both of Murphysboro, V.F.W. Post 2605 Carbondale and the Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69 will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 26, 2007 and Friday from 8 am until the hour of services at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home. Survivors include; his wife Arlene of Murphysboro, two sons; Jason T. Riggs of New York City, NY., and Scott A. Riggs of Newport News, VA., two sisters and one brother in law; Sharon and Mike Bryant, and Phyllis Johnson all of Murphysboro, one sister in law and her husband; Sue and Merle Darnstaedt of Nashville, IL., brother in laws; Jerry and (Ruth) Sarensen, and Wayne Sarensen, and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother; Charles "Peanut" Riggs.
