James W. Rayfield, 82 of Carbondale died at
7:25am on Friday, July 23, 2010 in Carbondale. Jim was born in St. Louis,
MO., on November 9, 1927 a son to the late Earl Sanders and Mary Lynne
(Hickman) Rayfield. He was united in marriage to Patricia Harrison on
February 3, 1951 in St. Louis, Pat survives of Carbondale. Jim was the
retired Planning Director for City of Carbondale. He was a member of the
First Christian Church in Carbondale and was a U.S. Navy veteran and a 50
year member of Carbondale Lodge #241 A.F.& A.M. Memorial services will be
held at 3pm on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the First Christian Church 306
West Monroe St. in Carbondale; Rev. Kathryn Graves of First Christian
Church will officiate. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the
American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife Pat of Carbondale, two
daughters; Sue Herron and Maura Rayfield both of Carbondale, two sons;
Kevin Rayfield and Jeff Rayfield both of Carbondale, seven grandchildren,
three great grandchildren, and one brother William Rayfield of Marion, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister; Joanne Belcher.
