George L. Ray, 58 of Murphysboro, died at 3:15 pm Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at his home in Murphysboro. George was in the flooring business for many years locally and up north. George was born October 9, 1951 in Waukegan, IL. a son to the late George Rex and Dorothy Loraine nee(Vanderventer) Armbruster Ray. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Viet Nam conflict; he was a member of the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127, and V.F.W. Post 7190 both in Murphysboro. He married Charlotte (Omen) Ray in January of 1973 in Waukegan, IL., she survives. He later married Maureen (Montanaro) Ray, Maureen and her daughter Tina both survive. Other survivors include one daughter and son in law; Tonya (Ray) and Jason Coleite of Long Grove, IL. three grandsons; Nicholas, Jacob, and Joshua Coleite all of Long Grove, IL., one sister; Karen Armbruster of Waukegan, three brothers and one sister-in-law; John M. and Patricia Ray of Murphysboro, David Ray of Winthrop Harbor, IL., and Kenneth Ray, and his special other; Diane Caputo, their children Kaylla, Brianna, Kenneth Jr. and Mike, all of Red Cliff, Wisconsin. Many other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends also survive. Private family services were held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with the Dr. Phillip Nordstrom officiating. Following his wishes, funeral services were followed by cremation. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
