- Mary Jean Rathjen, 75, of Murphysboro
died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Murphysboro. She was born
April 17, 1932 in Carterville a daughter of Walter Eugene and Mary Alice
(Pieron) Biggs. She married Erwin F. "Freddie" Rathjen in Murphysboro on
September 16, 1950 he preceded her in death on December 9, 1998. Mary
was a Machine Operator at the former Cal-Crest plant in Murphysboro.
- Funeral services will be at 11 am
Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Church the Rev. Mike Kettner
will officiate; burial will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in
Murphysboro and on Saturday from 9 to 11 am at the church. Memorials may
be made to Christ Lutheran Church or School or to Hospice of Southern
Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home or the church.
- Survivors include her Mother of
Murphysboro, Sister ; Barbara Morber of Murphysboro, brother and sister
in law L.R. and Ann Biggs of Herrin, brother; Gordon Biggs of
Murphysboro, brother and sister in law; Robert and Terry Biggs of
Murphysboro, brother in law; Oliver Rathjen of Murphysboro, sister in
law; Ruth Vogel of Jacob. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. In
addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her Father, brother
in law Melvin Wayne Morber, and brother in law Charles Vogel.
