Helen Pate, 90 of Murphysboro passed away at 4:55pm on Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Murphysboro. Helen was born in Gorham, IL. on February 19, 1920 a daughter to the late John Howard and Nettie Ellen (Higgerson) Bilderback. Helen was united in marriage to Wiley Pate in Perryville, MO., on December 7, 1940; Wiley preceded her in death on February 13, 2004. She was a member of Pate Chapel Baptist Church and was valedictorian of the class of 1937 of Gorham High School she also held a Palmer Method Certificate which was her most prized possession. Graveside services will be at 11am on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Pate Chapel Cemetery near Murphysboro, Pastor James Easton will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Pate Chapel Baptist Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law; Kathryn Hanson of Murphysboro, and Janet and Allan Littlefield of Kansas City, MO., one son and daughter-in-law; Matthew and Anita Pate of Murphysboro, 13 grandchildren; Marsha Gottlieb and her husband Randy with whom Helen lived with, other grandchildren and spouses include; Donna (Don)Conder, Angela (Greg) Greenrod, Crystal (Mark) Thurber, Pamela (Rich) Falter, Wendy (Kevin) Lawwill, Larry (Lori) Jacoby, Jon (Sandy) Jacoby, Holly (Dan) Ryder, Amanda (Ben) Willig, Tim Pate, Ted Pate, Trever Pate, 21 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, one son-in-law Perry Jacoby of Greenfield, IL., two brothers; Billy Eugene Bilderback of Portage, IN., and Douglas Keith Foncree of Arizona. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by one infant son; James Wiley "Jimmie" Pate, one daughter; Helen Jean Pate Jacoby, and one great granddaughter; Hope Falter
