Ethel Lipe, 99 of Murphysboro, died at 6:20am on Saturday, September 3,
2011 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Ethel was born in
Murphysboro, IL. on May 13, 1912 a daughter to the late Edgar Eugene and
Nancy Burton (Sulsar) Sims. She was united in marriage to Myrl Lipe on
September 1, 1950, Myrl preceded her in death. Ethel was a member of
the First Christian Church of Murphysboro and had been a member of the
American Legion Post 127Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Post 7190 Auxiliary both
of Murphysboro and the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Ethel
was a retired cook at Carruthers School in Murphysboro.
Graveside services will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at
Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro, Pastor Rick Sutton of the
First Christian Church will officiate. There will be no visitation;
friends are asked to gather at the cemetery. Memorials are encouraged
and may be made to the First Christian Church or to the American Heart
Association.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Phyllis and Bryan Baker
of St. Charles, MO, two sons and daughters-in-law; Edward and Teresa
Lipe of Sullivan, MO., and Alan and Kathy Lipe of Cottage Hills, IL.,
four grandchildren and their spouses; Dan and Lisa Rees, Darla and Gus
Branda, Amy and Jeff Palmer, and Bradley and Beth Lipe, ten great
grandchildren; Mandy Politte , Gina Rees, Danny Rees, J.J. Rees,
Stephanie Hotze, Diego Branda, Mia Branda, Emma Palmer, Will Palmer, and
Nate Palmer, one great-great granddaughter; Karlie Rees. Ethel was
preceded in death not only by her parents and husband but also four
brothers; Marion, Edgar, Earl, and Leslie Sims.
