Joyce Lewis, 64 of Carbondale formerly of
Murphysboro died at 1:25 am Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Murphysboro.
Joyce was born in Murphysboro April 10, 1943 a daughter to the late Robert
L. and Marguerite (Walker) Weathers. She married Greg Lewis in Paducah,
KY., April 11, 1995, Greg survives of Carbondale. Joyce was a member of
the Covenant Christian Fellowship in Carterville and was a school teacher,
she taught 3rd grade Longfellow, Lincoln, and Gen. John A. Logan
elementary schools in Murphysboro Dist. 186 and retired after 36 years.
She was also a member of the N.E.A., M.E.A. and the Jackson County Retired
Teachers Association. Services will be at 11 am Friday, February 8, 2008
at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Pastor Ralph Brandon will
officiate, burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near
Murphysboro. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at Crawshaw
Funeral Home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Covenant
Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home. In addition to
her husband Greg she is also survived by one son; Tom Cardwell of Dubuque,
IA., one daughter; Cynthia Cardwell of Cedar Rapids, IA., one sister and
brother in law; Trish and Albert Boudet of Murphysboro, four
grandchildren; Tommie Cardwell V, Tabitha Knupp, Addison Armstrong, and
Walker Armstrong, two great grandchildren; Tommie Cardwell VI, and Chloe
Melody, and two step-children; Liz Lewis and Emily Lewis. |
