Charles Peyton "C.P." Kunce, 56 of Murphysboro passed away at 3:34 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in Murphysboro. C.P. was born July 15, 1951 in Murphysboro a son to the late Judge Peyton H. and Wanda (Trainer) Kunce, his mother Wanda survives of Murphysboro.
C.P. was a blessing to the Kunce family. He received specialized training at St. Coletta of Wisconsin when there were no local facilities for people with special needs. C.P. was the inspiration and motivation behind his father founding the Jackson Community Workshop. C.P. was employed at "The Workshop" now known as S.T.A.R.T. of Murphysboro until his death. He loved going to work and receiving a paycheck. Many people remember C.P. riding his bicycle to and from work. C.P. was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro.
Funeral service will be at 11 am Friday, January 11, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro, Rev. Kerry Bean of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate, burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be after 5 pm Thursday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro and on Friday from 9 to 11 am at the church.
Survivors include his mother; Wanda, one brother; Stephen and wife Donna Kunce of Murphysboro, one aunt; Jewel Choate of Murphysboro and nephew; Scott Kunce of Pittsburgh, PA. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro or to S.T.A.R.T. and will be accepted at the funeral home and church.
