Gary D. Klein, 70 of Richland, MO., died at 11:48 pm Monday, September 22, 2008 in Springfield, MO. Gary was born in East St. Louis, IL. October 8, 1937 a son to the late Herman and Laurine Fern (Casey) Klein. Gary was married to Helen Joyce Hoppe on September 13, 1958; Helen preceded him in death on October 16, 1988. He married Marie F. Jemes on February 20, 1990, Marie survives of Richland. Gary was retired from the U.S. Army and was currently employed with the civil service maintenance branch at Ft. Leonard Wood. Funeral services were held at 7 pm Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Shadel's Colonial Chapel in Lebanon, MO., Pastors Lonnie Nelson and Gary Klein Jr. officiated. Visitation was from 6 to 7 pm Thursday in Lebanon. Graveside services with military rites by the U.S. Army from Ft. Leonard Wood will be at 1 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Goodbread Cemetery near Gorham, IL. Memorials may be made to the Goodbread Cemetery association. Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of local arrangements. Survivors include his wife; Marie Klein of Richland, four sons and daughter-in-laws; Gary Jr. and Brenda Klein of Aurora, CO., Glenn and Linda Klein of Stoutland, MO., Geoff and Tracy Klein and Keith and Etta Dotson all of Lebanon, three daughters and two son-in-laws; Darla and Paul Lucas of St. Robert, MO., Connie Dotson of Lebanon, and Bobbie and Johnny Smith of Richland, two sisters and one brother-in-law; Janet Bowlin of St. Louis, and Charlotte and Ron Morris of Shelbyville, TN., sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by one son; Gregory Dale Klein, and two daughters; Dennise Gayle and Dinnah Gwen Klein.
