Lucille Nilja Havens, 88 of Murphysboro died at 6:14 am Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in Murphysboro. Lucille was born in Des Moines, Iowa September 30, 1919 a daughter to the late George and Wilma Ruth (Walsh) Davis. She married Herman B. Havens October 17, 1942 in Chicago, IL., Herman preceded her in death. Lucille was a homemaker and had been a Gray Lady in the Red Cross during WWII and in post war Japan. She was a Presbyterian, and was a window dresser for several department stores, and a waitress.
Graveside services will be at 11 am Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Central Cemetery near Elkville, IL., Rev. Shaker Samuel of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro will officiate. Memorials may be made to V.N.A. Tip in Murphysboro. Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law; Barbara and Ted Pate of Murphysboro, and Charlotte Bradley of Dallas, TX., two sons; Hugh B. Havens of New Mexico, and Matthew D. Havens of Florida., nine grandchildren; Melissa and Amber Havens, Sean and his wife Theresa Bradley, Shane Bradley, Eric and his wife Kelly Kjellberg, Courtney Havens, Cody Havens, Tony and his wife Kim Pate, and Michael and his wife Kim Pate. Twelve great grandchildren; Katlyn and Travis Bradley, Heather, Kimberly and Lucille"Lucy" Kjellberg, Tyler and Tori Pate, Emily Novak, and Kasey, Tanner, Alexis, and Zachary Pate, and several great great grandchildren also survive.
