Mary Louise Harvey, 81 of Murphysboro and St. Louis, MO.,

passed away at 2 pm Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Miss Harvey was born in Murphysboro, July 6, 1925, a daughter to the late James W. & La Wanda L. (Young) Harvey. Mary graduated from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 which began a long, devoted career for her as a registered nurse. During WW II she joined the Cadet Nurse Corps at DePaul and remained with the service until its termination in 1948. Mary retired from DePaul Hospital in 1991.

Miss Harvey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Murphysboro, the Eastern Star and the White Shrine, and the American Legion. She was a long time member of the St. Louis Zoo Friends Association and a lifetime lover of animals.

She is survived by four sisters; Virginia Harvey of Murphysboro, Winifred Harvey of Addison, IL., Jama Triner of LaGrange, IL., Barbara Carter of Edwardsville, IL., and her brother David Harvey of Lindenhurst, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro, burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from 5 to 8 pm at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro and on Thursday from 9 to 11 am at the church. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Zoo Friends Association or to any animal shelter
