Anna Jane Hartman, 83 of rural Murphysboro died at 8:30 pm Tuesday, December 23, 2008 in Carbondale. Anna was born April 4, 1925 in Roseville, Michigan a daughter to the late Harley and Rosanna (McKenna) Ruby. She was married to Harold Hartman in Roseville, MI. Harold preceded her in death June 1, 2001. Anna was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carbondale. She was a retired school teacher, and was a member of the Michigan Education Association. A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran Church 700 South University Ave. Carbondale, IL., the brief memorial service will be followed by an Irish Wake and potluck dinner at Our Savior Lutheran Church; those attending may bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share along with fellowship. Graveside committal and burial of Anna's cremains will be in the spring at Orleans Cemetery in Orleans, Michigan. Because Anna as well as several members of her family have been afflicted with arthritis, memorials are encouraged to be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Southern Illinois Office, 315 East Poplar Harrisburg, IL. 62946, or because she loved her dogs so much memorials may also be made to St. Francis Care Box 175 Carbondale, IL. 62901, St. Francis Care is a non-euthanasia animal shelter. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-laws; Dr. Rebecca A. Hartman and Barry Wesley of Murphysboro and Rev. Jeff Sage and Janice Sage of Austin, MN., two grandchildren; Benjamin and Abigail Wesley she is also survived by one sister; Mary Henshaw and one brother; William Ruby. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers; John, Ralph, and Wilmer Ruby.
