Frank Charles Swetland, 88 of Murphysboro, died at 3:20am on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in Murphysboro. Frank was born on June 11, 1922 in DeSoto, IL., a son to the late Charles and Ethel (Murray) Swetland. Frank was united in marriage to Imogene Small on March 16, 1941 in Jackson, MO., Imogene survives of Murphysboro. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran and served during WWII. He was a member of Paul Stout Post 127 American Legion in Murphysboro and had attended Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro. He was a truck driver and worked for Tri-Angle and Carbondale Redi-Mix concrete companies for many years. Funeral services will be at 1pm on Friday March 11, 2011 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Pastor Charles Allen of the Elm Street Baptist Church will officiate. Entombment will be at Murdale Gardens of Memory near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 11am until 1pm on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Elm Street Baptist Church Building Fund or to the V. A. Hospice program. Survivors include his wife; Imogene Swetland of Murphysboro, one daughter; Patricia Crandall of Elizabethtown, KY., two granddaughters; Kendra (Ken) Walker of Elizabethtown, KY., and Kelly (Bill) Rees of Steeleville, IL. two grandsons; Kevin (Susan) Ridings of Gonzales, LA., and Kameron Ridings of Elizabethtown, KY., seven great grandchildren; Kendrick (Tiffany) Walker, Ashley (Jason) Rednour, Justin Burton, Kenneisha Walker, Amanda Ridings, Brooke Rees, and Kaitlin Ridings, three great-great grandchildren; Christian, Camden and Carson Rednour. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one sister.
