Dennis I. Keller,
85, died at 1 pm Friday January 5, 2007 in Murphysboro. Dennis was born on
September 19, 1921 in Dongola to the late Floyd B. and Mamie Gladys (Penrod)
Keller. He married Effie Grace (Kittle) on November 23, 1951 at the First
Baptist Church in Grand Tower she preceded him in death on May 7, 2006.
Dennis owned and operated the Keller Store in Grand Tower for 53 years. He
was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Tower, the American
Legion Post 127 and the VFW Post 7190 both in Murphysboro. Funeral
services will be at 10 am Monday, January 8, 2007 in the First Baptist
Church in Grand Tower with the Rev. Don Grammer officiating, burial will
follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro, with military
rites by American Legion Post 127 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7190,
both in Murphysboro, VFW Post 2605 in Carbondale and Jackson County
Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm
Sunday January 7, 2007 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Grand Tower. Survivors
include one son Bryan Keller of Anna, daughter Darcy Murphy of Carbondale,
daughter Rosanne Herr of Buncombe. Eight grandchildren Tyler Keller, Brent
Keller, Heather Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Daniel Herr, Amarrah Herr, Joshua
Herr, and Sarah Herr. One aunt Lorene Rife of Dongola. In addition to his
parents and wife an infant daughter Rose Marie Keller preceded him in
death. Memorials may be made to the Carmi Baptist Children's Home and will
be accepted at the funeral home or church. |
