Robert George Davison Jr., 65, Murphysboro
died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at home after a long battle with
leukemia. Robert was formerly from the Quad Cities and lived in Hampton,
Moline, East Moline, Green Rock and Geneseo. Robert was born April 17,
1941 in Galesburg the only child of the late Robert Sr. and Madilyn (Strutz)
Davison. Robert married Connie (Whetstine) April 17, 1976 on both their
birthdays at the Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg. Robert married Mary
Rose Rachel Nicholas in 1960 she preceded him in death. Robert worked as a
set-up man and mechanic in the forge shop at John Deere Harvester in East
Moline from 1963-1993 retiring after 30 years. He also owned and operated
Wonder Years video and deli in East Moline with his wife Connie. Robert
taught small engine repair to 4-H members and was active in Dad's Club in
Hampton. He enjoyed Y Indian Princess and Y Indian guides Club with
children November and Anthoney. Bob was a member of the Nazarene Church in
Colona IL. He was also a member of the Hampton, Colona, and Geneseo PTA
and a Geneseo Band Booster board member. Bob was an active member of the
Loyal Order of Moose in Geneseo and Murphysboro and served as Governor in
Geneseo. He was a member of Quad Cities Street Rod Limited Club the Hook
and Bullet Club and the Giant Goose Fishing and Hunting Club. He was a
member of UAW Local Union 856 in East Moline. Bob enjoyed Elvis Presley
music, as a teenager he boxed Golden Gloves and rode Harley Davidson
motorcycles all his life, owning 86 different bikes and enjoyed hunting
and fishing. Bob drove in Figure 8's when they first opened at the East
Moline fairgrounds. Bob's hobbies were crossword puzzles, trivia,
painting, coin collecting, stamp collecting, gardening, playing cards,
motorcycle racing, fishing, woodworking, refurbishing antique cars,
boating, antique collection, remodeling houses, hunting, especially in
Montana and he was an avid pool player. Bob traveled to 49 states.
Survivors include his wife Connie Davison of Murphysboro, daughter
November Lynn Davison and her partner Heidi Ramos of Murphysboro, son
Anthoney Ryan Davison of Murphysboro, daughter Susan Lynn Davison of Port
Smith Ohio, son Brian (Delilah) Davison of Rock Island IL. , 3
grandchildren, sister in law Edie Whetstine of Lavelle Wisc. And Pamela
White of Clinton Iowa and his mother in law Pearl Rutledge of Clinton
Iowa. In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death
by his stepfather Theodor Anderson, brother in law Glen Whetstine, Aunt
Ruby Seydel and his grandparents. Memorial services will be held at Grace
Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Colona IL on Wednesday December 27,
2006 at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Gordon Barrick will officiate, and at the Moose
Lodge 1591 in Murphysboro on Saturday December 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.
Robert Taylor will officiate. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to
the family, or The Hope Lodge Cancer House in St. Louis or the Leukemia
Foundation Research Fund. Bob will be deeply missed by his family and
friends. |
