- Dorothy L. Summers, 89 of Murphysboro
died at 4:40 am Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in Murphysboro. Dorothy was
born in Alto Pass, IL., November 17, 1918 a daughter to the late Frank
and Verna Lee (Rendleman) Rushing. She was married to Roy N. Summers in
Cape Girardeau, MO., March 14, 1943; Roy preceded her in death February
26, 2007. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Murphysboro; she had been a sales clerk at the former Ben Franklin and
F.W. Woolworth stores in Murphysboro and was a homemaker.
- Services will be at 11 am Friday, August
29, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Shaker Samuel of
the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant
Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm
on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials are
encouraged and may be made to the Hudleson Home or the First Baptist
Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
- Survivors include her sister; Wilma Lee
Lackey of Murphysboro, one brother-in-law and two sister-in-laws; Earl
and Geraldine Summers of Murphysboro and Vieanna Hunter of Murphysboro,
several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and
husband she was preceded in death by two brothers; James and Arthur
Rushing one sister; Mable Rushing and one infant sister; Kathleen
Rushing.
