Donna J. Summers, 57 of Elkville formerly of
Murphysboro passed away at 12:30 pm Saturday, January 3, 2009 at home in
Elkville. Donna was born November 22, 1951 in Oak Park, IL. a daughter to
Walter B. Klempier and the late Helen (VanOsterhaugh) Klempier. She was
married to Robb B. Summers on September 7, 1991 in Murphysboro, Robb
survives of Elkville. She was a Catholic and had graduated from Elgin High
School and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Donna had
a varied and interesting career including law enforcement in Colorado;
Executive Secretary for the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce; as a member of
the Community Development team at Southern Illinois Healthcare, and
finally as manager of the Carbondale Elks Lodge, from which she retired
due to disability. She was also a Past President of the Carbondale Elks
Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Robb of Elkville,
one son and daughter-in-law; Barry and Karen Follmann of Rincon, Ga.,
three grandchildren; Taylor, Zachary and Madison English, her father;
Walter B. Klempier of Schaumberg, IL., two sisters and one brother-in-law;
Karen and Mike Nedli of Carpentersville, IL., and Debbie Weech of
Bluffton, SC., one brother and sister-in-law; David and Ellen Klempier of
Itasca, IL., and many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in
death by her first husband; Ron Follmann and her mother. She was a lady
who asked only that we be recognized for the uniqueness we bring into each
other's lives. She will be missed and her memory cherished and enhanced by
those who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm Saturday,
February 7, 2009 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Father Gary
Gummersheimer of St. Andrews Catholic Church will officiate. Donna's
family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 2pm until
the hour of services. Memorial contributions to celebrate her life should
be made to the Family Friendship Fund at Southern Illinois Healthcare; the
VNA Tip Hospice or the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale Auxiliary and will
be accepted at the funeral home. |
