Ruth A. Crews, 93 of Murphysboro
died at 5:45 pm Thursday, March 30, 2006 in Murphysboro. Ruth was born in
Vergennes Township, IL. November 27, 1912 a daughter of the late Ota M.
and Grace (Bost) Cornett. She married Paul E. Crews on December 15, 1934
in Murphysboro; Paul preceded her in death July 19, 1987. Funeral services
will be held at 1 pm Monday, April 3, 2006 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in
Murphysboro, the Revs. Earl Renshaw and Richard Lewis of the United
Methodist Church in Murphysboro will officiate; burial will follow at
Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be on
Monday from 11 am to the hour of services at Crawshaw Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro or to
Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro, a member
of the Eastern Star and was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star; she
was a former member of Home Extension in Elkville, IL. and the Young at
Heart Sunday school class at the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro.
Ruth loved to sing and was a former member of the choir at the Methodist
Church in Elkville. Ruth loved and cared for her family dearly; her grand
children and great grand children were her pride and joy. She was a truly
dedicated Christian and an active life long Methodist. Survivors include
one son and daughter in law; Charles G. and Pam Crews of Murphysboro, one
sister; Lucille Reeder of Murphysboro, one grand daughter and her husband;
Kerri and Klint Gale of Ava, IL. one grandson and his wife; Chris and
Kendra Crews of Makanda, IL. four great grand children; Kylie and Cash
Crews, and Katie and Kreed Gale, one brother in law; Ted Pate of
Murphysboro, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents
and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters; Irene Hubbs,
Lawanda Frances Cornett, and Bernadine Pate, and two brothers; Garnett and
Glenn Cornett. |
