Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro with the Rev. Richard Kinnamon officiating. Burial will follow at the Bradley Family Cemetery near Denmark, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro.

Calvia was born in Murphysboro, IL June 12, 1910; the daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Bradley) Higgerson. She married Elias Albert Doerr and had one daughter, MaryAnna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Paul Higgerson.

Calvia was a member of the First Baptist Church for her entire life. She was also a member of the VFW Post 7190 Auxiliary, the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 and the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary all of Murphysboro. Calvia was employed by both Brown Shoe Factory & Harts Pharmacy both in Murphysboro.

Calvia truly loved traveling with her family, reading, and playing cards with her friends at the senior citizens club.

Calvia is survived by loving daughter MaryAnna Herd and her husband Robert Herd of St. Louis, MO. Survivors also include grandson, Robby Herd, his wife Rhonda and daughter Elle of Memphis, TN; grandson Barry Herd, his wife, and daughters Emily, Shannon, and Ashley of St. Peters, MO; one granddaughter LeeAnna Thessing, her husband Brad, and daughter Savannah of Springfield, MO; and two nieces Carolyn Williams of Murphysboro, IL and Merldene Yates of Peoria, IL.
