Murphysboro - Donald R. and Charlene
Castlebery, of Murphysboro, died Saturday July 30, 2005. Services will
be at 11am Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Murdale Baptist Church, 2701 West
Main St. in Carbondale, with Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Burial with
Masonic graveside rites will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in
Murphysboro. Visitation will be after 4 pm on Tuesday at Murdale Baptist
Church and from 9 to 11 am on Wednesday at the church. Donald was born on
June 28, 1940 in Murphysboro the son of late Earl H. and Leona P.
(Crowell) Castlebery. Charlene was born on March 12, 1942 in Murphysboro
the daughter of the late Charles T. and Donna (Brown) Reiman. Don and
Charlene were married in Murphysboro on August 28, 1960. They were both
members of Chapter 13 of the Blue Knights International, and White Shrine
of Jerusalem, Don was a member of Murphysboro Lodge #498 A.F.& A.M. They
were both Baptists. Don was a retired Sergeant for the Murphysboro Police
Dept. with 26 years of service, and currently was a Deputy Sheriff civil
processor for the Jackson County Sheriff's Dept. Charlene was a school bus
driver in the Murphysboro School Dist. for 29 years for West Bus service.
They are survived by two daughters, and two son in laws, Gwena R. and
Malloy Bramlett of DuQuoin and Elizabeth and Jeff Spicer of Murphysboro,
two sons and one daughter in law; Joseph D. Castlebery, of Carterville,
and Bill and Tanya Castlebery of Murphysboro. Nine grandchildren; April
Kiefer, Amber Bramlett, Cassie Bramlett, Christa Bramlett, Malloy Bramlett
Jr., Amanda Spicer, Jeffery Spicer, Kaylan Spicer, and Caleb Castlebery.
Two great grandchildren; Brayden Kiefer and Jacob Scholebo. Don is also
survived by one brother and spouse; Harvey and Doris Castlebery of
Murphysboro and was preceded in death by one brother Gene Castlebery.
Charlene is survived by three sisters; Dorothy Attig of Murphysboro,
Florence Selinger of Mechanicsburg, Il., and Betty Kirkpatrick and her
spouse Clark of St. Louis, MO. They were preceded in death by one son
Charles Castlebery on June 12, 1967. Memorials are encouraged and may be
made to the Blue Knights International or the Fraternal Order of Police,
and will be accepted at the church or funeral home. Crawshaw Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements. In God's hands now. Ride with pride.
