Aletha Carlock, 91 of Murphysboro died at 1:55pm Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in Murphysboro. Aletha was born July 20, 1919 in Marion, IL. a daughter to the late Ralph and Ora Mae (Butts) Owens. She was united in marriage to Orval Carlock on December 24, 1938 in Jackson, MO.; Orval preceded her in death on December 20, 1999. Aletha was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro and was a retired cosmetologist and long time cosmetology instructor at the former Murphysboro Beauty School. Services will be at 11am on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Shaker Samuel of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 9 to 11am on Saturday at the funeral home; casual attire is requested for those in attendance. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Rehab & Care Center of Jackson County Auxiliary and will be accepted at the funeral home. Survivors include one son; James Carlock of Murphysboro, two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law; Jack and Carol Carlock, and Bill Carlock of Murphysboro and Pat Crider of Benton, IL.
