Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro. Wiley
was born in Jackson County, Illinois September 28, 1906 to the late George
Washington and Louesa Mary (Weilmuenster) Bost. He married Hallie B.
Nausley on September 29, 1928 they enjoyed a wonderful and loving marriage
of seventy-three and one-half years. Their marriage license was the first
license bought in the present courthouse of Jackson County. After he and
Hallie were married they lived in St. Louis, MO for seven years where
Wiley worked for Pevely Dairy. In 1935 they and their three sons moved
back to Murphysboro where they started Bost Truck Service. Wiley started
the business with one small 1932 GMC truck hauling livestock and farm
produce. The business slowly expanded adding more trucks and employees. In
1940 they started hauling freight from St. Louis, MO. to Murphysboro plus
all types of rock, sand, lime and grain. Heavy hauling and propane were
added in the 1960's. Wiley retired from the business in 1972 but because
of his love for hauling, he continued to drive a lime-spreader until he
was 89 years old. Wiley was an active member of the First Lutheran Church
of Murphysboro. He was a 50 year member of Murphysboro Lodge #498 A.F.&A.M.,
and a faithful visitor to the residents of the Rehab and Care Center of
Jackson County in Murphysboro. Wiley was jovial and fun-loving and will
always be remembered for being honorable and fair in his business
dealings. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by three sons and daughters in law; Gene and Peggy Bost,
and Bill and Jacquie Bost of Murphysboro, Bob and Rose Bost of Vergennes,
one daughter and son in law; Mary Lou and Jim Roberts of Murphysboro. He
is also survived by nine grandsons, three granddaughters, twenty-eight
great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, one nephew and four
nieces. In addition to his parents and his wife Hallie who died April 4,
2002, he was preceded in death by one son J.R. Bost, two brothers; Allen
and Robert Bost and three sisters; Mary Berthoux, Rachael Bell, and Ellen
Swenson and one half-sister Ruth Oliver.
