Lee Blake, 75 of Murphysboro died at 4:20pm on Monday,
January 9, 2012 in Murphysboro. Lee was born on April 25, 1936 in
Stonefort, IL. a son to the late Lester W. and Evelyn (Kennedy) Blake.
He was united in marriage to Nita Tweedy on June 27, 1959 in
Murphysboro, Nita survives of Murphysboro.
Lee was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Marine
Corps. He was a retired manager and area supervisor for the P.N. Hirsch
Co. and Stein-Mart Co. He was a member of the American Legion Paul
Stout Post 127, Murphysboro Elks B.P.O.E. 572 and the V. F. W. Post 7190
all of Murphysboro; he was currently a member of the Military Honors
detail from the American Legion Post 127 and the V.F.W. Post 7190.
Services will be at 11am on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Crawshaw Funeral
Home in Murphysboro, burial will follow at Murdale Gardens of Memory
with Military rites by the American Legion Post 127, V.F.W. Post 7190,
V.F.W. Post 2605 in Carbondale and the Jackson County Disabled American
Veterans Chapter 69. Memorial contributions are encouraged and may be
made to the Illinois Elks Children’s Care Corporation and will be
accepted at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm on
Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife; Nita Blake of Murphysboro, one daughter;
Robin Blake Falkenberg of Murphysboro, two sons and one daughter-in-law;
Tom and Vanessa Blake in Indianapolis, IN, and Richard Blake of
Murphysboro, one brother and sister-in-law; Ron and Beverly Blake of
Summerfield, FL., six grandchildren; Kelsey Blake, Kaitlyn Blake, Blake
Egbert, Matthew Blake, Ryan Blake, and Josh Falkenberg, two
step-grandchildren; Lauren Vires and Courtney Vires, three
sisters-in-law; Pat Roberts, Norma Jean (Johnny) Dickerson, Julia Moore,
two brothers-in-law; Jim (Jean) Tweedy and John Tweedy and his special
friend Carole Wexsten, and numerous nieces and nephews In addition to
his parents he was preceded by one daughter; Kelly Jo Blake in 1979, one
son; Randal Joseph Blake in 2004, his father-in-law and mother-in-law;
Cecil and Helen Tweedy and one brother-in-law; Bud Roberts.
