Kenneth Black, 86 of Rural Ava, died at 12:10 pm Sunday, February 10, 2008 at home. Kenneth was born in Reynoldsville, IL., August 31, 1921 a son to the late Henry Grayson and Cleva (Misselmeir) Black. He married June E. Austin September 6, 1948 in Murphysboro, June survives of rural Ava. Kenneth attended the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro; he was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during W.W.II. He was a member of the Murphysboro Lions Club and had been a member of the Ava Odd Fellows. Kenneth had worked at Murphysboro Abstract Co., as an abstractor, and he was a retired maintenance coordinator for Consolidated Coal Co. Burning Star #2 mine, and after retirement had also been a tour guide for Presley Tours. Funeral services will be at 1pm Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Rev's. Richard Lewis and Earl Renshaw of the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro will officiate; burial will follow at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro with military rites by Paul Stout Post 127 American Legion, V.F.W. Post 7190 both of Murphysboro, V.F.W. Post 2605 Carbondale and Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter #69. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois, and will be accepted at the funeral home. Survivors in addition to his wife June include one daughter and son in law; Karen and Don Rahming of Murphysboro, one granddaughter and her husband; Autumn and Tim Allen of Murphysboro. Kenneth was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and one grandson; Ryan Alan Rahming
