Carol Sue Bishop, 63 of Nashville, IL. passed away at 4:27 am Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville. Carol was born at home in the country between Elkville and Desoto on August 22, 1944 a daughter to the late Clifford and Johanna (Batteau) Bishop.
Services will be at 11am Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Pastor Les Boldt of the Nashville Christian Church will officiate; burial will follow at the Desoto City Cemetery in Desoto, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Friday and from 8 am until the hour of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Nashville Christian Church or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Carol devoted her life to work in the medical profession starting at the age of 16 as an aide at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. She attended Missouri Baptist Nursing School in St. Louis; she worked at Holden Hospital and eventually Doctor's Hospital in Carbondale in the Obstetrics' department working with high risk infants. Over time she began work in medical records and became an Accredited Records Technician. She spent many years in health care management and was able to travel to Hawaii and to Europe as part of her work. She served on the Board of Directors of Washington County Hospital until 2007. Carol was a member of the Nashville Christian Church.
She is survived by one brother; Clifford Bishop and his wife Mary of Nashville, one niece; Rebecca Bowen and husband Lewis of Bastrop, TX., two nephews; Allen Bishop of Murphysboro, and Stephen Bishop and wife Mary of O'Fallon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Stanley Eugene and Jimmie Dean Bishop.
