Mary Alice Biggs, 93 of Murphysboro died at 4:14 pm Thursday, April 17, 2008 in Murphysboro. Mary Alice was born in Murphysboro November 18, 1914 a daughter to the late Columbus and Mary (Comte) Pieron. She married Walter Eugene Biggs March 22, 1931 in Carterville, IL. Walter preceded her in death December 8, 1981. Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday, April 21, 2008 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Shaker Samuel of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the First Baptist Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home. Mary Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro, the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 Auxiliary, the Somerset Unit of the Jackson County Home Extension, and was a member of the Murphysboro Senior Citizens. She was a homemaker and had been a sales clerk at the former Grand Pa Johns store in Murphysboro. Survivors include one daughter; Barbara K. Morber of Murphysboro, three sons and two daughters in law; L.R. and Ann Biggs of Herrin, Robert Allen and Terry Biggs, and Gordon Wayne Biggs all of Murphysboro, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren, one sister in law; Beulah Pieron of Murphysboro, three nephews; J.J. Pieron, Jack Wesley Pieron both of Murphysboro and William Kelly of Jackson, Miss., and one niece; Rose Kathryn Stevens of Murphysboro. She was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, three sisters, and three brothers, one grand- daughter and two sons in law
