Dixie Sharon Ballantyne, 80 of Murphysboro, died at
1:20am on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Memorial Hospital of
Carbondale.
Dixie married Ronald C. Ballantyne in Hiawatha, Kansas, in 1947 and he
survives her. Dixie retired from SIU-C in 1992 after 27 years of
service. She also served on the Board of the SIU Credit Union. She was
an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Murphysboro where
she served in various positions.
Memorial services will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at
the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro; Reverend Charles Walden of
the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Memorial contributions
are encouraged and may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of
Murphysboro, the Murphysboro Food Pantry or to the Salvation Army.
In addition to her husband Ronald she is survived by one daughter;
Sharon S. Brashear and two sons and daughters-in-law; John (Marie)
Ballantyne and Jeffrey (Theresa) Ballantyne, four grandchildren; Matt (Mylene)
Ballantyne, Amy (Roberto) Martinez, Jayne Ballantyne and Craig (Sarah)
Brashear, five great-grandchildren; Cody, Casey and Cooper Brashear,
Jacob Martinez, and Marty Ballantyne.
