Charles V. Arbeiter, 78, of Granite City, IL. formerly of Gorham, IL.
died Sunday, May 20, 2007 in St. Louis, MO. Charles was born near Gorham, IL. July 27, 1928 a son to the late Fredrick William and Sophia (Schomber) Arbeiter. Charles married Elizabeth Hanson in Murphysboro; she survives of Granite City, IL. He was a Lutheran and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Charles had worked at the former Granite City Steel and retired from Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, MO as a security guard in 1991 after 24 years of service. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, May 25, 2007 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Rev. Theodore Mayes of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro will officiate, burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home. Survivors include his Wife Betty of Granite City, one son and daughter in law; Steven and Jackie Arbeiter of Sorento, IL., one daughter and son in law; Kathy and Dennis Chovenac of Sulfur, LA., four grand children; Jessie, Sarah and Craig Blanchard, and Ian Nesbit, two brothers; Earl Arbeiter of St. Louis and Harold Arbeiter of Jackson, MO., two sisters; Pearl Foy of Granite City and Ruth Sextro of Nevada, MO., In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Roy, Howard, and Ralph Arbeiter.
