Ralph E. Arbeiter, 85 of rural Murphysboro,
died at 3:58 am on December 19, 2005 at the Rehab and Care Center of
Jackson County in Murphysboro. Ralph was born on February 6, 1920 in
Gorham, IL., a son of the late Fredrick William and Sophia Helen Elizabeth
(Schomberg) Arbeiter. He married Clarice J. Fager at the Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Murphysboro on September 25, 1948, she survives of Murphysboro.
Ralph was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro; he was
a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a 59-year member of the American Legion Paul
Stout Post 127 in Murphysboro. He was a farmer, a salesman of farm
machinery, and loved to raise and train horses, he also loved to play the
harmonica. Funeral services will be 1 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at
Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with Rev. Theodore Mayes of the
Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating, burial will follow at the Immanuel
Lutheran Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 127 and
V.F.W. Post 7190 both of Murphysboro V.F.W. Post 2605 Carbondale and
Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Visitation will be
from 9 am until the hour of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran School
and will be accepted at the funeral home. In addition to his wife Clarice,
survivors include five sons and three daughters in law; Gary Edward
Arbeiter of Murphysboro, Henry Paul and Lynn Arbeiter of Indianapolis,
IN., Carl Wade and Mary Arbeiter of Murphysboro, Allen Craig Arbeiter of
Murphysboro, and David and Donna Pelzer of Murphysboro, three brothers;
Harold Arbeiter of Jackson, MO., Earl Arbeiter of South St. Louis, MO.,
and Charles Arbeiter of Granite City, IL., two sisters; Pearl Foy of
Granite City, IL., and Ruth Sextro of Nevada, MO., seven grand children
and two great grand children. He was preceded in death by one son; Ernie
F. Arbeiter on June 24, 1983, and two brothers; Roy and Howard Arbeiter.
