Glenn E. Alstat, 73 of Murphysboro,
died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Glenn was born August 23, 1934 in Desoto a son to the late Joseph Francis and Amelia (Dietz) Alstat. He married Sharon Young August 3, 1957 in Desoto, she survives of Murphysboro. Glenn was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro. He was a retired Pit Forman for Freeman United Electric #11; he was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of Paul Stout Post 127 American Legion and was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday, October 8, 2007 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Timothy A. Bean of the First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 10 am until the hour of services on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Indian Hill Cemetery Association, the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Desoto. In addition to his wife Sharon, survivors include one son and daughter in law; Tim and Lori Alstat of St. Louis, MO. two Grandchildren; Ian and Tori Alstat of St. Louis. One sister; Edna Welch of Michigan, Four sister in Laws; Viola Alstat of Desoto, Evelyn Alstat of North Carolina, Pauline Alstat of Oraville, and Juanita Alstat of DuQuoin and many Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers; F.L."Fritz"Alstat, William Lester Alstat, Alvis "Shorty" Alstat, Harold "Dee" Alstat, Roy Alstat, and Joseph Francis Alstat Jr.
