Bessie L. Allison, 93 of Murphysboro formerly of Pomona, died at 4:55 pm on Thursday, March 24, 2011 in Murphysboro. Bessie was born on July 12, 1917 in Nokomis, IL a daughter to the late Levi and Mary (McKenzie) Nance. Bessie was united in marriage to Mack W. Allison on November 26, 1932 in Murphysboro; Mack preceded her in death on November 27, 1993. Bessie was a member of Dutch Ridge Baptist Church near Pomona, she worked from home and did machine quilting for over 25 years. Graveside services will be at 1 pm today Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro, Pastor Davy Miller will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to proceed directly to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church and will be accepted at the cemetery or Crawshaw Funeral Home. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law; Bob and Phyllis Allison of Pomona, two granddaughters; Bobbie (Doug) Volner of Pomona and Laura Halleran of Murphysboro, one grandson; Stephen (Angie) Allison of Pomona, three great granddaughters; Stephanie Morris, Carrie Allison, Jessica Ragsdale, one great grandson; Cody Halleran, one great-great grandson; Dustin Ragsdale, four great-great granddaughters; Joleen Ragsdale, Morgan Morris, Allison Morris and Hanna Morris. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers; Willard, Herbert, Jess and Roy Nance, and three sisters; Mable Williams, Nellie Johnson, and Mary Clover.
